Why Less is More

Why Less is More

Less Skincare = Better Skincare

How to Simplify Your Skincare Routine

At izé, we believe less is more: less ingredients, less packaging, less time and money wasted, more results. If you are tired of breaking the bank on new skincare products, then it is time to simplify your routine.

Our skin is our largest organ, and it cleanses, exfoliates, and moisturizes itself, so there is no need for an elaborate skincare routine. Think of your beauty products almost like food. When curating your skincare routine, opt for products with clean, natural ingredients that you would want to be absorbed into your body and nourish the skin without stripping it of its natural oil production.

IZE as 1, 2, 3

Skincare should be as easy as one, two, three. And with our recommended three-step routine, it will be. Oftentimes, people are overdoing their skincare routine which leads to damaging the skin barrier. When the skin sensitizes from the overuse of harsh products, it becomes more susceptible to breakouts and signs of premature aging. Instead, prioritize these main components in your routine to restore the youthful glow of your skin: cleanse, hydrate, moisturize, and protect.

  1. Cleanse
    • A great cleanser should gently remove excess sebum, dirt, and debris accumulated throughout the day without drying out the skin. Avoid cleansers with stripping ingredients, such as alcohols, parabens, fragrances, and other harsh chemicals.
      • Cream cleansers are better suited for those with sensitive or dry skin.
      • Gel cleansers are great for oily skin types or acne prone skin.
      • Foam cleansers are suitable for all skin types.
    • When it comes to removing makeup, cleansing oils are a great alternative for gently melting the makeup away without having to pull, wipe, and tug on your delicate skin. Makeup wipes are not only harsh on the skin but also wasteful to the environment.

Tip: In the morning, splash your face with luke warm water or use a natural toner. At night, use your cleanser in gentle circular moments for thirty seconds to a minute to ensure the skin is clean, and then pat dry with a clean cloth.

  1. Hydrate + Moisturize
  • Hydrating your skin properly allows it to retain and absorb moisture. Hydration goes beyond just skincare, drinking enough water throughout the day is crucial to hydrate from the inside out.
  • Skin lacking in moisture is unable to regenerate new cells, which leads to excess sebum and clogged pores.
  • Moisturizing your skin is one of the most important steps in your skincare routine. When the skin is properly moisturized, it reveals a clear, even complexion.
  • Many factors can cause the skin to become dry and irritated, so moisturizing morning and night will alleviate signs of flaky skin. Rather than using excessive steps in your routine that may be stripping your skin of its natural oils, replenish it with izé facial oils.

Tip: Gently press the izé facial oil onto your face, neck, and chest to lock in moisture after it has been cleansed, both AM and PM. Oils can be used alone or mixed with a facial cream.

  1. Protect
  • This is your daily reminder to never skip the SPF. Missing this step will reverse all the hard work you have put into maintaining a youthful glow.
  • Even as we transition to colder months, always apply sunscreen before heading outdoors.
  • Limiting sun exposure and daily use of SPF is essential for prolonging the signs of aging and protecting against the harmful effects of the sun.

When our skin is cleansed, hydrated, moisturized, and protected, it is less susceptible to common skin issues most of us encounter. Focus on these steps, and over time you will reveal a more even, glowing complexion.

Simplified Skincare Routine

So what should your simple skincare routine look like? Here is how we do it at izé.

Morning Routine:

  1. Rinse: Skip the cleanser, simply splash your face with luke warm water. If you feel like you need a deeper clean, wipe your face with a gentle toner to remove excess dirt or left over makeup.
  2. Hydrate: Using your izé facial oil, gently pat into your skin.
  3. SPF: Use your favorite sunscreen all over your face, neck, and chest to protect from the harmful rays.

Night Routine:

  1. Cleanse: Using a gentle cleanser, apply a dime size amount into your hand and gently massage into your skin in circular motions for at least thirty seconds. If removing makeup, use a cleansing oil to met your makeup off before cleansing with your traditional cleanser.
  2. Correcting serum (optional)
  3. Moisturize: Using your skin specific izé facial oil, gently press the oil into the face, neck and chest.

Feeling Extra?

We all love to be extra at times, especially with our skincare routine. Depending on your skin type, it can be beneficial to gently exfoliate the skin 1-2 times per week. Chemical exfoliants gently remove dead skin cells, encouraging cell turnover to reveal an overall even complexion. Avoid physical exfoliants as they are often too abrasive to the skin’s surface and can create micro-tears if overused.

There are two types of chemical exfoliants: AHA’s and BHA’s. AHAs are a water-soluble acid made from sugary fruits, suitable for dehydrated skin. In their most natural form, AHAs provide a gentle exfoliation of the skin’s surface to reveal glowing skin. When paired with other hydrating ingredients, such as Squalane, Jojoba Oil, and Cucumber Seed Oil, they deeply nourish the skin without stripping it off its natural glow.

Using natural-occurring AHAs in your routine will help even skin tone, lighten dark spots, and reduce the signs of aging. This plant-derived acid found in izé facial oils works to gently remove dead skin cells while replenishing and hydrating deep into the surface of the skin. No extra steps necessary.

Oils 101

Using izé facial oils in your skincare routine eliminates the need for unnecessary steps in your routine. The nourishing blend of oils and other natural ingredients help combat our most common skin issues, all in one step and with zero irritation. Oils have a bad rep when it comes to skincare, so we are here to clear the air about the misconception of oils and share the many benefits they have when used in your skincare routine.

  • Jojoba seed oil contains anti-inflammatory properties to reduce redness caused by drying and ease the effects of eczema and rosacea. Jojoba seed oil deeply moisturizes the skin to help restore the barrier.
  • Cucumber seed oil contains a significant percentage of oleic acid and linoleic acid, which are effective in treating dry skin, and other skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. The cucumber seed oil also aids in anti-aging due to its high levels of vitamin E to stimulate new cell growth.
  • Squalane oil reduces the appearance of fine lines, moisturizes the skin, softens texture, controls excess oil production, and soothes skin to prevent irruption.
  • CBD oil contains anti-inflammatory properties to help reduce and treat acne.
  • Strawberry seed oil deeply nourishes the skin without clogging the doors. In addition, strawberry oil’s potent source of antioxidants prevents collagen breakdown and improves the elasticity of the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Apple seed oil softens skin and impairs elasticity to restore the skins youthful glow. Apple seed oil aids in collagen production and activation to firm skin and diminish the appearance of fine lines.

Why less is more with Ize skincare

If you have tried it all and nothing seems to work, why not try doing less. At izé, we prioritize clean skincare to not only treat our skin but also protect the planet. We donate 1% of sales to environmental causes and only work with certified green vendors. If you want to see an impact on your skin and the planet, there’s only one solution: use less products.

Reasons to simplify:

  1. The less products you use, the less waste created
  2. Less ingredients used on your skin, less chances of irritation or adverse reaction
  3. Less time and confusion figuring out what works, more consistency with your routine

We have been trained to think that most skin “issues” such as dry skin, oily skin, wrinkles, and acne can be fixed by exfoliating and peeling away the top layer of our skin. By piling on the serums and exfoliants, we are actually breaking down the skin barrier, causing it to have a much higher risk of sensitivity and sun damage. And worst of all, it can cause your skin to have issues retaining the moisture it craves the most.

Make it easy, and simplify your skincare routine today with izé. From its minimal, natural ingredients to the sustainable packaging, it is only what you need skincare and never what you don’t. Your skin, the planet, and your wallet will thank you.
