Simplified Skincare Routine (Morning + Evening + Weekly)

Simplified Skincare Routine (Morning + Evening + Weekly)

We get this question all the time. What should my simple skincare routine look like? Here is how we do it at izé.

 Morning Routine (AM):

  • Rinse: Skip the cleanser, simply rinse your face with cold water.

  • Treat (Optional): Use a serum or toner for targeted skin concerns (ie: hydration, hyperpigmentation, redness, etc.).

  • Moisturize: Using your izé facial oil, gently pat into your skin while it’s still damp from the water. It's VERY important to apply the face oil onto your skin while it's still damp because you are trying to LOCK IN that hydration to keep your skin dewy and glowing for longer. It also helps the oil absorb into the skin and glide on smoothly.

  • SPF: Use your favorite sunscreen all over your face, neck, and chest to protect from the harmful rays.

Nighttime Routine (PM):

  • Cleanse: Using a gentle cleanser, apply a dime size amount into your hand and gently massage into your skin in circular motions for at least one whole minute to allow it to work properly. If removing makeup, use a makeup remover of your choice (oil cleanser, cleansing balm, cotton pad + micellar water) to remove your makeup first before cleansing with your traditional cleanser.

  • Treat (Optional): Use a serum or toner for targeted skin concerns (ie: hydration, hyperpigmentation, redness, etc.).

  • Moisturize: Using your skin specific izé facial oil, gently press the oil into the face, neck and chest while skin is still damp. AGAIN, very important to apply the face oil on damp skin to lock in hydration!

Weekly Routine:

  • Exfoliating: Depending on your skin type, it can be beneficial to gently exfoliate the skin 1-2 times per week. Chemical exfoliants (gentle acids like AHA + BHA) gently remove dead skin cells, encouraging cell turnover to reveal an overall even complexion. Avoid physical exfoliants (grainy stuff, scrubs or beads) as they are often too abrasive to the skin’s surface and can create micro-tears if overused.

  • Masking: I'm not very into masking. I feel like they are messy and annoying to put on and take off. I also feel like they disrupt my skin more than anything because most of them are either too drying, too harsh or have tons of fragrance in them.

Our Product Recommendations (all linked below)

Cleansers:

  • Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm this is my go-to for removing makeup. It's very gentle and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry. It also doesn't leave a greasy or sticky feeling to my skin.

  • First Aid Beauty Cleanser this is a super simple, fragrance-free that also removes dirt and grime without drying out the skin.

  • Bioderma Micellar Water this is a great first step to remove makeup without irritating or drying out the skin

Serums

  • The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum this is a great serum at a great price that is suitable for all skin types. Super hydrating and non-irritating. I apply this morning and evening on damp skin right before my izé face oil

Exfoliators

  • Paula's Choice BHA Exfoliator is my go-to for exfoliating. I use it only a couple of times per month or whenever I remember (lol) but it's one of the only ones I've found that didn't irritate my skin or leave it red and dry. It's very gentle and feels hydrating on the skin.
